Fabulously detailed Miriam Haskell brooch featuring a large faux baroque pearl center nestled in leafy stems and surrounded by smaller faux pearls. In good vintage condition--please see photos. The wear on this piece is consistent with age and use. The gold tone is so interesting. It has some loss on the leaves and then what looks like gold gilt and a layer of brown. We can't tell if the brown is loss as well, but it almost looks like paint. Is this the Russian Gold we read about?
If someone knows more about this, we would love to learn! The center pearl has areas of peeling as we've done our best to highlight. The smaller pearls are wired.
We noticed one that is still attached, but will require a small repair as it has broken from one side of the wire. The back is the filigree flat plate and the signature is the oval reverse stamp. We don't have a definitive date, but it looks like it may be one of the earlier designs.A wonderful brooch and great piece of history. This is a beauty for any collection!
Because of its wear, we encourage you to zoom in on any of our photos. We always do our best to take clear, transparent photos so they can be an extension of our description.
