1890's antique 18k yellow gold 1.25ct blue & white topaz pin brooch 4.4gr N2610A. 1890's Antique Handmade 18k yellow gold 1.25ct Blue and White Topaz Pin Brooch, 4.4 grams. This is an absolutely beautiful, handmade 18kt yellow gold blue and white topaz pin brooch. This intricately designed antique piece is in excellent condition, the gold is bright and there are hardly any signs of wear. This piece features a vibrant 0.93ct oval cut blue topaz gemstone and 2 - 0.16ct white topaz foil back old mine cut gems. Foil back gems first became popular around 1714, they were used to enhance or give brilliance to stones without a lot of facets. Foiling was not used as much during the Victorian Era, which ended in 1901, because of the advancements in diamond manufacturing. These hand cut gems were bezel set in a very luxurious 3.25 long handmade pin mounting with many, very decorative hand carved designs.

The heads for the stones were separately hand crafted and hand soldered on, along with the 2 handmade screw designs. The pin is thick and strong and the handmade mechanism, which is in perfect working order, was first used in the early 1890's.
