The amazing decorative jewel is a real work of craftsmanship and is a one off period survivor, which dates from C1850 or maybe a little earlier? There is no evidence that this was a mourning jewel and it is lovely quality. Is made up of a mix of polished hard stones in the Pietra dura style and is set in a tested low grade gold decorative frame.
The brooch has its original safety clasp to the rear. This ovoid shaped brooch measures 1.0 in diameter and is 0.5 wide. It has an amazing period patina.
This item is in vintage condition 1. There is no damage to the stones and it is not cracked or missing any of its elements. The frame is undamaged and only shows age related wear.
